Move over, Martha! There's a new domestic goddess in town, and she's ready to change the way Americans cook dinner!
Yes, Meghan Markle is officially bringing her culinary skills to Netflix.
Earlier today, the Duchess released the first trailer for her long-rumored lifestyle series, With love, Meghan.
“I was so excited to share this with you! I hope you enjoy the series as much as I enjoyed making it. I wish you all a fantastic New Year! » Meghan captioned the photo.
“Thank you to our incredible team and the @netflix team. Beyond grateful for the support – and fun! As always, Meghan.
As we previously reported, Meghan returned to Instagram on New Year's Day, after a nearly five-year hiatus.
Her first post hinted at big things in the near future, as a short video clip showed the Duchess of Sussex frolicking on a beach and writing “2025” in the sand before flashing a quick smile at the camera.
Now we know Meghan already knew that Exactly how she planned to leave her mark on the year to come.
Does Meghan hope to prepare a comeback?
However, we don't know if there is any truth to the rumors of a real feud between Meghan and Martha Stewart. But it's clear that Meg has a lot to gain from this project.
To put it bluntly, 2024 hasn't exactly been kind to his career.
Meghan's Spotify podcast was canceled after just one season, and new polls indicate that Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, are less popular than ever.
The Sussexes signed a lucrative deal with Netflix in 2020, but so far the partnership hasn't yielded the expected results for the streaming giant.
More recently, the docuseries produced by Harry and Meghan Polo debuted to poor reviews and minimal viewership.
Worse, the series sparked allegations that Harry and Meghan were too privileged and out of touch to create content that would appeal to mainstream audiences.
And if the comments on today's trailer are any indication, YouTube users overwhelmingly share that sentiment.
“Netflix, when will you learn…” wrote a viewer.
“Please make a show exactly like this but with the real OG – Martha Stewart,” another added.
“Let’s all gather around the kitchen island and pretend that this woman is the epitome of healing, connection, and community.” I feel so warm and fuzzy! It's probably heartburn after that lame staple food. She served and we said no thanks,” added a third.
A fourth commenter alluded to allegations that Meghan bullied members of her staff at Kensington Palace, writing:
“Grill, gnash, gnash.” I can't even finish watching the clip. Meghan has to be the most insincere person I have ever seen. I feel sorry for the staff she bullied.
Needless to say, Meghan will have to overcome a lot of difficulties if she hopes to rebuild her public image in 2025.
But given the amount of vitriol and unfair criticism she's received since she started dating Harry, we're sure she's up to the challenge.
