How did a Bronx MTA bus hang from the freeway?

According to New York Post, An MTA bus driver lost control, missed a turn and crashed into a stone wall on the Henry Hudson Parkway around 8:40 a.m. on Friday, January 17th. X (formerly on Twitter) by the New York Post shows the bus teetering on its side, with huge chunks of rock strewn across the road.

ABC 7 News reports that there were no passengers on the bus as it had just started its journey to Manhattan. The driver had difficulty maneuvering around a parked car on the Henry Hudson Parkway service road. After passing the parked vehicle, the bus hit the curb and got stuck between the grass and the ditch.

Help was offered by the other bus driver who backed up a few vehicles in the morning's heavy traffic. Taking the steering wheel for help, the other driver tried to navigate the tricky turn, but the bus slipped out of control and crashed through the barrier wall.

Here's what happened after the MTA bus crash and driver updates

Two tow trucks worked together to pull bus on hard ground. Firefighters also helped in the work, per Pix11. Despite the chaos, the police confirmed that they safely removed the driver from the bus. The 37-year MTA veteran walked away unscathed.

Additionally, Marcos Soler, chairman of Yonkers Depot, spoke to ABC 7 News about the frightening incident. Soler said the car parked on the road reduced the available space for an MTA bus driver.

“The way the car is angled and parked doesn't cover the curb, so it limits the space we have. Express buses are longer than local buses. So it makes it a bit difficult for an express operator to get around because we have 45 feet and the local buses are 40 feet. Soler explained.
