After the general debauchery of New Year's Eve is over, everyone faces the same challenge in the morning: fulfilling the ambitious resolutions we made the night before. “New year, new me” is easy enough to say out loud, but even those who love to keep their resolutions are stuck with a difficult question: Where the hell can you learn enough to become a better person this year? Fortunately, the answer is easier than you might think. All you have to do is stream The good place Netflix for one hilarious hour after another about becoming a better person.
The plot of the good place
Long before that The good place landed on Netflix, it surprised NBC audiences with its very unique premise. We follow one character who is sent to 'The Good Place' after death, despite being well aware that she doesn't deserve eternity in comedy heaven. Deciding to fake it until she makes it, she decides to learn more about how to be a good person, but all the philosophical and ethical knowledge in the world can't prepare her for the twists and turns her afterlife awaits.
The good place has been tearing up the charts Netflix thanks to a great cast including Kristen Bell (better known for Veronica Mars) as a woman apparently sent to heaven by mistake. William Jackson Harper (who has been in all of St. John's to Ant man and the Wasp: Quantum Mania) plays her ethics teacher, and their quartet is completed She-Hulk veteran Jameela Jamil (who plays a boisterous party girl) and Acolyte veteran Manny Jacinto. Meanwhile, they meet two new allies The good place: a charismatic architect played by Ted Dunsen and a kind of walking, talking (not to mention omniscient) Wikipedia played by D'Arcy Carden.
One of the best comedy shows ever
When you look The good place on Netflix, you'll better understand why it's considered by many (including us!) to be one of the best-written shows of all of television's golden age. Short seasons planned well in advance means the show has great arcs for every character and a lot more twists and turns than you might guess from its premise. Besides, as long as it didn't win almost will suffice for our taste, The good place was an awards darling, garnering 14 Primetime Emmy nominations and two Golden Globe nominations, taking home a Peabody as well as four Hugos.
And now that a new number of fans are being tested The good place on Netflix, they find it lives up to its critical reputation. On Rotten tomatoesthe show has an impressive critical score of 97 percent and an audience rating (via Popcornmeter) of 89 percent. It's an amazing show to watch for the first time, and all the more rewarding to watch, and the show's amazing and ambitious narrative stands out even more in an era where most shows (especially those that are exclusive streaming) are canceled before they can complete their run.
Will you find The good place as heavenly as we did after you streamed it on Netflix, or will you decide that this is the kind of show only bad Janet can appreciate? You won't know until you stream it yourself, effectively kicking off the new year. Be warned, though: after a few episodes of this gripping sitcom, other TV sitcoms will feel like they came straight out of The Bad Place.
