Nikki Glaser Cut Alec Baldwin's “Rust” Joke From The Golden Globes

Comedian Nikki Glasser was going to tell a joke about 2021.Rust“related to the shooting Alec Baldwinbut apparently changed his mind at the last second!

In October 2021, the 30 Rock actor held a gun on the set of a western while rehearsing a scene. The gun went off, stunning and killing the cinematographer Haline Hutchins. Armourer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was sentenced to 18 months behind bars for involuntary manslaughter, but Baldwin's case was dismissed with prejudice in July 2024 after a judge concluded that the prosecution failed to turn over adequate evidence to the defense.

From Harrison Ford to Glenn Powellno one seemed to be spared Nikki Glaser's opening monologue. However, in an interview with Howard Stern to her SiriusXM show, Glaser admitted that there was a joke about Alec Baldwin that she decided not to share with the audience.

“Michael Keaton played so well Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. And Alec Baldwin unfortunately didn't come back to play the ghost because he was too busy making it,” she joked. The Hollywood Reporter.

However, she thought mocking the late cinematographer Halyn Hutchins was too mean to share on live television. “Please know that I know it wasn't nice. It's such a great joke, but it's too mean,” she added.

However, that wasn't how the joke was written. As Glaser explained, “It was meant to be.”when he orgasms and i said “after” and it really pissed me off. While she admitted the joke “still works,” she thinks it's still “less obvious” and “2 percent funnier” than she intended.

Although Stern told her it was still funny, Glaser insisted, “They don't know how much more they would have liked it.”

Glazer also cracked another joke about the “Batman” actor, who recently got divorced Jennifer Lopez after a previous divorce Jennifer Garner. “Here's Ben Affleck. I can't wait to see which Jennifer you try to screw up next,” Glaser wanted to say, but didn't want to indulge in too many Affleck jokes.

Although she also cracked a few jokes Diddythere was one that didn't make the cut. “This is the last time you'll all be in the same room together until Diddy's trial,” is one of Diddy's quips, which she chose not to mention during her monologue.

“We had another Diddy mention that worked better (…) and you only get one Diddy mention. You're also accusing the people in the room of being in on it, and they can turn on you,” she explained.

As the first woman to host the Golden Globes, Glaser revealed that she didn't earn as much as her male counterparts. in 2023 Jarrod Carmichael revealed he was paid $500,000 for hosting; however, he was heavily criticized for his performance.

“I got less. Everything is fine. I will get more next year. Honestly, I would have done it for free, it's such an insane platform. … (But) next time I will ask for more money,” she said, although she admitted she has yet to be asked to retake.

“I can't imagine they wouldn't. (…) It's hard to find people to do these shows,” she explained. “I could never live with myself if I turned it down because I'm afraid of being bombed.”

Luckily, Nikki Glasser received positive reviews for her hosting role after previously hosting Tom Brady's Roast on Netflix. She told Howard Stern that she was complimented after the show by Harrison Ford, who told her, “It's such a tough gig and you're doing such a good job.”

She also revealed that one of the writers told her, “You can't get 101 percent on this,” and gave her an “A plus.”

At the end of the night, Glaser concluded, she “went to bed happy.”
