Pamela Anderson and Jamie Lee Curtis recently sat down for an interview with Parade to discuss their new film, The Last Showgirl.
The two women play best friends in the film about a 57-year-old Las Vegas showgirl (played by Anderson) who comes to terms with the possible end of her career as she ages. Anderson is also a single mother in the film, and the actresses discuss motherhood and juggling careers in the entertainment industry.
“At the heart of the film is a story about a single mother who has made a choice to pursue her art, and the consequences of having a child come back and say, 'It hurts me that you chose your art over me,'” Curtis said. mothers in the world will see this film and identify with this complex issue.”

Jamie Lee Curtis learns that her co-star can play the saxophone
Anderson shocked Curtis when she revealed that she used to play the saxophone in her elementary school jazz band.
The 66-year-old “Knives Out” star stopped Anderson in the middle of her story about auditioning for the reboot of “The Naked Gun” after she casually remarked on her musical abilities. Both actresses talked about lying to get the role.
“My first audition was for The Naked Gun. It just happened,” Anderson said. “So, I shouldn't have lied, you know? Even though they thought I was lying, because actually I was in a jazz band and I played (the) saxophone.”
“Okay, stop! Everyone just stop,” Curtis interrupted. “Let's stop for a second. And I'm just going to turn in my chair. Just a little bit. Hold on, please. Now you can start saying it again. You played the saxophone?”

“In (junior) high school,” Anderson replied.

The “Barb Wire” actress really took Curtis by surprise when she noted that she not only knows how to play the saxophone, but she also knows how to sing jazz.
“I did all the scat solos,” Anderson added.
“What the hell is going on?” exclaimed the “Halloween actress”.
“And so in the movie, The Naked Gun, I have to sing,” she continued. “I did a scat solo, and so I remember saying to him, you know? 'I did all the scat solos in junior high.' And he just said, 'Don't do it now.' I was like, 'Scooby Doo and Dooby Doo and doo-dat doo-dat.” I just started scattering and I got the part.
Curtis couldn't contain her shock and cried out again, “What the hell is going on?”

Curtis reveals that “The Last Showgirl” was filmed in 18 days
Curtis noted in an interview that they filmed “The last showgirl“in just 18 days.
The “Blue Steel” actress also revealed that it was mostly women on set.
“It was a really intense, beautiful kind of fusion of artists and women, mostly women,” Curtis said. “And, you know, we're playing best friends, so it was, in a weird way, the moment we touched, all my life experiences fell into her. All her life experiences fell into me, and we said, 'oh right,' and then, you know, continued.”
“Yeah, and we're together,” Anderson agreed.

Anderson stars as a single mother and dancer facing the end of her Las Vegas show in The Last Showgirl. The film is directed by Gia Coppola.
Curtis plays Anderson's character's best friend in the film, and both actresses have been nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award.
Anderson is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Motion Picture. She was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. Academy Award winner Curtis was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture.
