Skeleton Crew Episode 7 puts the adults in a classic Steven Spielberg scene

“Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” Season 1 Penultimate Episode “We're Gonna Be In So Much Trouble” returns the action to the planet Athenawith all the plots and characters of the show blending into the mysterious world of myth. As events unfold, the parents of endangered children Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), Neil (Robert Timothy Smith) and KB (Kyriana Critter) plan to send them a message, letting them know how to overcome the deadly barrier that stands between them and their return home. Meanwhile, Captain Brutus (Fred Tatasciore), Jodh Na Nawood (Jude Law) and the rest of the pirates fight for the children and their ship, the Onyx Cinder, when they realize it may hold the key to getting through the barrier.

In the end, Jod excels by forcibly capturing the children, holding them hostage with cruel threats, and abandoning his pirate crew. Reaching the surface, he finds the fabled treasure of Athena and the children are reunited with their parents. However, the actual episode ends just as the final conflict is about to begin.

Along the way, “We're Gonna Be In So Much Trouble” offers everything from “Andor” to “Treasure Island” for ideas. However, one of its best scenes comes straight from Steven Spielberg's classic.

Skeleton Crew creators Robert Watts and Christopher Ford have made no doubt that they were inspired by Steven Spielberg's work, especially his directing and producing work in the 1980s. “The Goonies” is often cited as a frequent inspirationand it makes sense. “The Goonies” really cemented the “Kids on Bikes” genre in the hearts and minds of 80's kids everywhere. But of course, there was another film that really started the genre: Spielberg's 1982 hit ET the Extra Terrestrial.

The seventh episode of “Skeleton Crew” opens with a scene taken straight from “ET”. Convinced that the droids and At Attin Wardens will do nothing to help find their children, the parents of the missing children have created their own. a communication device cobbled together from spare parts to send a message beyond the planetary barrier. They gather together in the forest to reveal their message. Unfortunately, Athena's security droids, who carry bright flashlights at night, descend on them and give chase, hoping to stop their message from getting out.

The scene feels like a direct send-up of two specific, iconic moments in “ET.” The first is the foot chase in “ET,” previously mentioned on the show, where agents of the government chase the eponymous alien through the woods at night. with flashlights. However, the other is when the ET has built his own communication device to communicate with his people and be picked up to go home. “PICK UP the phone at home,” he tells his friends in one of the film's oft-quoted lines.

While “Skeleton Crew” episode 7 matches the shots and feel of Spielberg's classic with its nighttime forest sequence, it also has the adults on the run from the authorities this time around, which is a fun switch. Of course, though, they just want to get their kids home safe and sound, which makes you wonder if that could be the case for other aliens trying to get ETs from the other side. Spielberg's film.

If there's one thing we can learn from the example of Spielberg's 1980s Kids on Bikes, it's that they always have an exciting climax with lots of action and, well, kids on bikes. Since this episode of “Skeleton Crew” ends on a huge cliffhanger after the new heroes return home to Attin, it stands to reason that we'll probably be back to see the kids riding motorcycles in an effort to save the day from Jodh. Will they fly in the sky and be silhouetted by the moon? That might be a bit much, but I still bet air bikes fit into things. I'd bet on it anyway Wim will get his hands on that lightsaber that Jod escaped withalso. It would make a lot of sense for him to become the Jedi he's been dreaming of since the first episode. Hopefully, the children's droid friend SM-33 will also return. It's just good storytelling in Spielberg mode.
