Skilla Baby brings celebration to Detroit teens

Skilla Baby has offered to pay for the 13-year celebration Na'Ziyah Harris's life. Na'Ziyah remains missing and is presumed dead by authorities after she was last seen in Detroit, Michigan.

Skilla Baby is demanding justice for missing teenager Na'Ziyah Harris

CBS News reports that Na'Ziyah Harris disappeared after getting off her school bus on January 9, 2024. Annette Harris, her adoptive mother and biological grandmother, reported her missing that same day. According to Wayne CountyJarvis Butt, who dated Na'Ziyah's aunt, is facing charges of having an inappropriate relationship with the teen after text messages they allegedly exchanged were shown during a preliminary hearing.

When Na'Ziyah's story gained attention online, rapper Skilla Baby spoke out, demanding justice for her. On Wednesday, January 15, the Detroit emcee shared a photo of Na'Ziyah on the site Instagram and announced they would cover the cost of a community gathering to honor her life.

“Wow #Justice4Naziyah And normally I would donate money to the family but from what I hear the whole family failed her…but I will cover all costs so we can come together as a community and celebrate Na'ziyah's life…” Skilla Baby wrote. .

According to CBS News, prosecutors have charged Jarvis Butts with first-degree murder, second-degree criminal sexual conduct and child sexual abuse. Boots faces trial for murdering Na'Ziyah Harris. Judge Alia Sabree sent the case to the 3rd Circuit Court, describing Buts as “the monster in this picture.”

“She (Na'Ziyah) deserves love from her parents and everyone in her life. She was ignored. She was neglected and you took full advantage of that. She wanted someone to love her and she'll never know how that is. I pray for the healing of all the victims and the young girls and possibly the boys who have come across you,” Judge Sabree said.

Prosecutors argued that evidence, including testimony from one of Jarvis Booth's business partners in November 2024, cell tower tracking data and an eyewitness account of Booth being with Na'Ziyah on the night of her disappearance. In addition, several of Na'Ziyah's belongings were reportedly found in areas visited by Booth after her disappearance. Authorities have also previously charged Boots with sexually abusing two other girls on separate occasions.

Eight witnesses, including Na'Ziyah's grandmother and aunt, have testified. Na'Ziyah's aunt, Shannon Harris, testified that she never suspected anything inappropriate and believed that the relationship between Jarvis and Na'Ziyah was a typical uncle-niece relationship.
