Southern Hospitality's Joe and Maddi detail their 'impulsive' Vegas wedding

But that doesn't mean their parents were necessarily thrilled by the news of the marriage.

“No, they were crazy,” Maddi added. “They were crazy, that’s for sure.”

And Joe could understand.

“I had a lot of ass-licking to do for Thanksgiving this year,” he noted. “But we're so close to our families and they know we ride or die for them. They just want us to be happy, thank God.”

As for why the Bravo stars ultimately decided to become more than just friends, it all came down to timing.

“I always knew in my heart that we would be together and I just feel like I had some growing up to do in a lot of ways,” Joe explained. “She said, 'You had some stuff to get out of your system before I thought you were ready.' I wanted to be a good enough man for her, and by being with her, I feel like I've already become a better person.”

Discover the love story of Joe and Maddi and their surprise wedding. Southern Hospitality returns tonight, January 2, at 9 p.m. on Bravo. And keep reading to find out more about season three.
