According to CBS NewsOn Wednesday, January 15, Allsop was scheduled to operate a flight from Georgia to Chicago. According to sources, Allsop allegedly smelled of alcohol and may have shown other signs of intoxication. In addition WJCL adds that the pilot's arrest took place at Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport.
Before the flight took off, Allsop was “suspended from duty”. In addition WJCL reports that the passenger flight was delayed from 6:05 a.m. to 10:56 a.m. as the airline worked to replace the pilot.
“The employee has been suspended,” a Southwest Airlines spokesman said. “Customers were accommodated on other flights and we apologize for any disruption to their travel plans. At Southwest, nothing is more important than the safety of our employees and customers.
