Stephen King recommends these two sci-fi mystery shows as lost

Stephen King recommended some great TV shows for 2024and he's continued that trend with two acclaimed series that fans of Lost and all things weird will love. How author of many great sci-fi, horror and mystery stories that should become TV shows In his own right, King certainly knows what he's talking about, and he's picked out a couple of gems that are worth it for everyone.

“There are really only two 'mystery box' shows that I felt were worth my time last year and next year (for “mystery box shows,” think LOST): FROM and SILO. As always, your mileage may vary,” King. wrote below Bluesky.

Of course, it remains to be seen if “No” and “Silo” ever will as well-regarded and influential as “Lost” at its best. Also, the two shows are completely different from Jeff Lieber, JJ Abrams and Damon Lindelof's sci-fi drama, though they still share enough similarities to make them perfect bedfellows.

No is the best sci-fi series you're not watching, and it's time to fix that. The story takes place in a small town where the locals can't escape because they are being held there by mysterious forces, not to mention all the strange happenings that happen around them. The premise is similar to a Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode called “Alone and Far Away” (in which the main characters can't leave the house), even if “From” is larger in its location and scope.

Still, “From” arguably has more in common with “Lost” than with “Buffy,” although fans of the latter will be happy to know that there are monsters that reveal their true forms after the sun goes down. However, the series is similar to “Lost” in that it revolves around trapped people who are forced to come to terms with fantastic concepts while trying to survive in dangerous situations.

What's more, “From” stars “Lost” alumnus Harold Perineau as Boyd Stevens, who plays one of the locals in the mysterious town. At the time of this writing, the first three episodes of “From” are available to stream on MGM+, and a fourth is currently in development.

Based on Hugh Howie's novel series of the same name, Apple TV+ show Silo is a dystopian sci-fi drama about corruption, authoritarianism and inequality set in an underground world hundreds of stories deep. The citizens believe that their rulers are there to protect them, but as the story unfolds, one of the residents, Juliet Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson), learns that something incredible is going on—especially as she begins to investigate the death of a loved one.

In this post-apocalyptic universe, human history has been erased, and families cannot have children unless they get permission from the higher ups. The Judge makes sure everyone stays in line, and its representatives are ready to get their hands dirty to hide the silo's secrets.

Like “Lost,” the Apple TV+ series takes place in an isolated world and centers around characters who initially don't know the truth about what's going on around them. However, the show's sociopolitical ideas and setting are more reminiscent of “Snowpiercer,” “High Rise” and other sci-fi stories about class divisions in unique places.
