A lawsuit that names Dr. Hostin and 199 other doctors accuse them of “knowingly providing fraudulent medical and other health care services, including arthroscopic surgeries.” Sunny, who is also a lawyer, says the claims have caused significant reputational damage and vows to hold the insurance company accountable.

Sunny addressed the potential counterclaim, stating, “$5 million is an amount that is likely to rise because it is currently difficult to determine the reputational damage that American Transit has intentionally caused.”

The ABC co-host also accused the insurance company of using her celebrity status to escalate the situation. “They have used my platform The view to start a disgusting media smear campaign against my husband, which included me and our children,” she said.

Sunny further alleged that American Transit's actions were part of a broader pattern of unethical behavior.

“American Transit is harassing me and my family, trying desperately to not pay the bills. Our family will not be bullied and harassed. We remain steadfast,” she declared.

Claims for misconduct and financial problems

In its statement, Sunny accused the insurer of using “despicable tactics” such as harassing doctors and abusing legal resources. She also cited other legal and financial issues facing the company, including a lawsuit filed by Uber Technologies against American Transit and a preliminary investigation by New York state. Sunny claimed that the company was “on the verge of bankruptcy”.

She ended her statement with a stern warning: “Let me be clear, where I'm coming from, American Transit will get a PHD from FAFO University,” using the viral acronym for “f–k around and find out.”

American Transit responds

In response to Sunny and Geragos' allegations, American Transit attorney William Natboney of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft issued a *Page Six* statement.

“American Transit brought the lawsuit as part of its statutory responsibility to combat no-fault fraud, which is rampant in New York,” Natbony said. “The allegations in the complaint speak for themselves. With respect to any defendant's allegations of wrongdoing by American Transit or its counsel, such allegations are emphatically denied as without merit.

Dr. Hostina attorney Daniel Thwaites previously called the lawsuit a “blanket, sprawling, and unconscionable lawsuit by a nearly bankrupt insurance carrier.”
