When it came out TikTok At 5:30 PM PT it would get dark, the marathon scrolling began.
Even though it was about soaking it all in, seeing how others felt and making sure we were there until the end, it was bittersweet and a little stressful. We wanted to share what the vibe was like in the last hour before TikTok went dark on Saturday night.
Since we had no idea that TikTok would come back to us on Sunday morning, my editor-in-chief Heather Edwards and I used the last hour on TikTok to gather some interesting videos to share with our readers today. And while the app is back up and running, we thought we'd share with you the last hour of TikTok as we experienced it.

Truths, facts and memories filled TikTok FYP on Saturday night
TikTok's final long, doomed scroll on Saturday night featured videos recapping the creator's time on the app, sharing good memories and saying goodbye. Some videos shared the news from different perspectives, such as a video by the creator, @Jaxwritesongs.
Her video was captioned, “Thank you guys for completely changing my life and giving me the opportunity to pursue my dreams. I will be forever grateful for the friends I made on this app. I pray that my daughter will experience a platform like this. One day I am so angry i will never forget you at dawn In the video, Jax shares some news about the TikTok ban as well as her thoughts behind it all.

“Sorry sir, I thought 'national security threat' was about data collection,” she said in response to a news report that called TikTok a “potentially more powerful propaganda tool.”
“Here are some fun facts. Instagram, Facebook, Google, DoorDash and Airbnb collect more data than TikTok,” she continued. “TikTok has contributed more than $24 billion to the US gross domestic product and more than 224,000 jobs to the US economy.”
She went on to share facts about TikTok and all that it has done, as well as comparing TikTok to Meta.
Her video quickly went viral with over 17 million views in one day. Many took to the comments to share their thoughts.

“And the fact that you just gave us all this information easily without looking for it is why they hate this app,” one person wrote. Another said: “We are free to express our opinion but they don't want us to have a choice.”

Grandma Droniak can be happy now
TikTok attracts not only the young generation. People of all generations found TikTok a safe place to share their lives and Grandmother Droniak is proof of that. She shares her wisdom, dating tips and life on the app. She shared a sad video to say goodbye to all her loyal followers.
“This app gave me purpose late in life. I always wanted to be famous and it fulfilled my dream in my 90s. I can now end up happy. I don't want to lose you all,” she laments on the video.
The video quickly went viral with over 3 million views and lots of supportive and loving comments.
“Oh, this one hurt,” one viewer wrote in the comments. “Keep killing grandma every day. Legends never end.”

In a follow up videothe popular TikTok grandma shared her Instagram feed for fans to follow her hilarious antics.
Comparing 2020 with 2025
Brian Mollerknown for its playful yet informative videos, shared a video on Saturday about all the social media apps millennials have used. I was fully expecting her take on the gloom and doom of TikTok while scrolling, and I wasn't disappointed when her video popped up on my FYP.
As with all of his videos, viewers could relate to his views and share their thoughts in the comments section.
“It's no joke that millennials have been all over social media,” one person wrote. Another added: “I was really looking forward to one of your videos. So glad I at least got to see it before it got dark. Thanks for the laugh.”
A few days earlier, he shared a video about the possibility of the ban oppressing TikTok users.

Captioned 'The TikTok Time of Our Lives', he recreates the role of each popular social media app and what they're thinking about right now. His storylines not only entertain but also inform the audience and he has garnered a lot of fans over the years with his relatable perspectives.
“Thanks for following me for all things Vegas”
As a Vegas resident, I knew @Vegas Starfish would enter my FYP. Seeing her goodbye video made me feel right at home and instantly sad about the app going dark.
“Well, that's it, my friends. It's a TikTok Swan song, and unless something major happens in the next few days, this may be my last post on the app,” she began her farewell video. “Thank you for letting me share Las Vegas with you and thank you for being on this adventure with me. You completely changed my life.”
She shared more about her experience on TikTok and thanked the app and everyone on it.

“When my mom first moved to Vegas I was really worried but then you were in my FYP. YOU helped me by giving me a sense of comfort in her presence so thank you,” one person wrote in the comments. Another person shared: “Thanks for all the great Las Vegas vacation tips. You were extremely helpful.”
When TikTok returned on Sunday morning, she shared another video for returning.
Keith Lee dropped a final video with some big news
A very popular TikTok food reviewer Keith Leewho saw a lot of success on the app, shared his latest video on Saturday, which ended with some big news. He definitely left TikTok with an entertaining video that kept fans interested till the end.
“If this is my last time here, I just want to say from the bottom of my heart, I appreciate you all and goodbye,” he said at the start of his video while in his car. The story begins after he gets out of the car with boxes of food for his family.
Lee receives several phone calls, and while we can hear what the person on the other end is saying, the audience can only hear Lee say, “mur mur mur,” to add to the secret of the big news shared at the end.

The video continues as Lee walks around his house and receives phone call after phone call. At the end of the video, he reveals his news about a new food tour and the platforms he will be sharing his new videos on.
