Tyra Banks gets emotional after discovering her Los Angeles home has burned down

Tyra Banks talks about losing his Los Angeles home.

The 51-year-old supermodel opened up on an Australian morning show on Monday, January 20 Sunrise that she is among the celebrities whose house burned down devastating forest fires which began on January 7.

Banks said that she and her partner, a businessman Louis Bélanger-Martinlearned the sad news while in Australia, where she splits her time away from the US

“I lost my house,” ex America's Next Top Model host shared. “I haven't really talked about it, but yeah, I have. I just didn't want to draw a lot of attention to myself. I feel like a lot of people need that attention, so I haven't really talked about it, but I can't sit here and not tell the truth , that, yes, we lost our house.

As the wildfires continue to spread through the Los Angeles area, several celebrities are taking to social media to share how they've been affected. “Evacuated and safe with children, dog and cats. Banks continued, “We were here at a friend's house celebrating and having fun. I kept checking my phone, not my house, but my friends and family, making sure they were evacuating and everything. And then I asked my partner, 'I'm here what do you think I see?” and he (nods). And I just pulled it together and just didn't say anything to my friends and just stayed in that moment and then we went home and we cried and we had our moment.

Banks noted that she and Bélanger-Martin split their time between Australia and New York, so most of her belongings are safe. “A lot of that memorabilia is here and in New York, so thank God I didn't lose it,” she said. “There were some memorabilia that we lost … it's hard.”

Fires fueled by strong Santa Ana winds and dry conditions destroyed thousands of homes, displaced residents across Los Angeles and killed at least 25 people. According to Associated Pressthe fires burned 63 square miles of land.

Stars including Spencer Pratt and Heidi Monday, Paris Hilton and Billy Crystal also lost their homes in fires.

“I didn't know what to do,” Montag told Us Weekly on Wednesday, Jan. 15, referring to the moment she realized she and her family had to flee the out-of-control fire burning in Pacific Palisades. “Nothing could have prepared me for that… You just can't wrap your head around it.
