Mandy Moore and her net worth are under scrutiny.
Like thousands and thousands of other people in Los Angeles, Mandy Moore rang in the first week of 2025 by fleeing her home with her family.
Historic wildfires have ravaged many homes, most of which are not owned by celebrities.
When Moore shared a crowdfunding link for a relative, fans wondered about her own finances.
On Thursday, January 9, Mandy Moore took her Instagram in a now deleted post to share a link to a GoFundMe page.
“Please consider donating and sharing to help them rebuild,” she wrote.
The message was about Griff and Kit Goldsmith, his in-laws. They are due to give birth to their first baby in a few weeks and have lost Griff's entire livelihood in the flames.
However, when followers saw that someone as famous as Mandy Moore had shared a GoFundMe link to raise $60,000 for her own relative, some responses were downright hostile.
“The audacity of you, a multi-millionaire asking ordinary people who live paycheck to paycheck to donate to YOUR family member,” one commenter accused, “when you could easily donate the full amount of your goal without it financially affecting your family in any way.”
In addition to the fact that the Instagram post is no longer available, Moore also wrote a response.
She defended herself on Instagram
“People questioning whether we are helping our own family or awarding an arbitrary amount of money, according to Google, is NOT helpful or empathetic. Of course we are,” she wrote in a comment.
Mandy Moore added: “Our friend Matt started funding me and I'm sharing because people have asked how they can help. We also lost most of our lives in a fire. Please F OFF. No one is forcing you to do anything.
Notably, GoFundMe raised more than $200,000 — likely some of which came from Moore's fans — before donations closed.
Around the time Britney Spears' career took off, Mandy Moore achieved fairly widespread fame, even though she didn't follow Britney's path to musical mega-stardom.
Since then, she has starred in many major films, including forgotten gems like American dream and cult classics like Saved! Recently, she reintroduced herself to many viewers by starring in It's us.
According to VarietyMandy Moore earned $85,000 per episode just for the first season of It's us. That's about $1.5 million. She starred in all six seasons.
What is Mandy Moore's net worth?
According to Celebrity Net WorthMandy Moore has a net worth of $14 million as of 2025. This is of course an online estimate – the exact kind of number she was warning fans about not trust his Instagram response.
(If you have friends who have ever appeared on television, chances are they have seen comical overestimates of their net worth. Many people don't realize, for example, how much of that salary goes to agents and managers).
We're sure that, all things considered, Mandy Moore is a multi-millionaire. But we're also certain that “net worth” doesn't mean piles of cash in the bank. Much of Moore's property went up in smoke – literally.
Also, even though it has no bearing on one's net worth, but… sharing a crowdfunding link is not a burden on anyone. Even a wealthy person who already donates might do so to see if they can help a loved one even more.
