At least that's what the Oscar winner alluded to in a mysterious video posted to social media on Jan. 6, which discussed his decision to turn down the lead role in the hit franchise created by Lana Wachowski And Lilly Wachowski.
“In 1997, the Wachowskis offered Will Smith the role of Neo in The matrix“, reads a message displayed in the clip published on Will's Instagram page. “Smith refused. He chose Wild Wild Westthinking it suited him better at the time. But the question remains: what would The matrix Was it like with Will Smith in the role of Neo?
“Wake up, Will…” the video continues. “The Matrix has you…”
But don't get too excited just yet, because even if Warner Bros. announced a new Matrix the film was in development as of April 2024, the Bad boys star is not currently involved with the franchise, sources said Variety.
