Worst episode of How I Met Your Mother, according to IMDb

Craig Thomas and Carter Bays' CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother ran for nine seasons from 2005 to 2014 and was so popular that even started a spin-off series. However, despite its impressive longevity, it's safe to say that not every episode is a winner … which makes sense since there are over 200 episodes in the series. The ensemble comedy actually has some seriously awful episodes, starring Josh Radnor as Ted Mosby, a guy who's forever telling his kids about how he met their mother (voiced by grown-up Ted on behalf of the late Bob Saget). what do fans think is the absolute worst if we use the IMDb rating as their final word on the matter?

The answer is a bit complicated because the series finale “Last Forever” is divided into two parts … and the second installment, aptly subtitled “Part Two,” has the dubious distinction of earning the series' lowest episodic IMDb rating of a dismal 5.5. (“Last Forever: Part One” isn't doing much better with a 6.6, but I'll get back to that nonsense soon.) So what happens in “Last Forever: Part Two” that pissed off fans so much? Aside from the first part of the series finale, does any other episode go down as badly with fans as the end of the entire show itself?

The reason “Last Forever: Part Two” has such an incredibly low rating on IMDb — almost a failing rating, in fact — is because it not only completely stinks, but also throws away the entire legacy of the show so that Carter Bay and Craig Thomas can stick to the plan, which they developed a full decade earlier. Let me explain. At the end of the show's second season, Bay and Thomas filmed a scene with Ted's “grown-up” children Penny (Lindsay Fonseca) and Luke (David Henri), revealing that the titular mother, played to perfection on the show by Cristina Miliotti. the ninth and final season, dying … paving the way for Ted to reunite with his on-again, off-again girlfriend and the kids' “aunt” Robin Scherback (series regular Cobie Smulders).

The idea that Robyn, a hard-working career woman who works her way up the ladder in broadcast journalism to become an internationally recognized news anchor, would still come to terms with Teda pedantic coin collector who likes to correct people is insulting enough. Add in the fact that the entire ninth season is focused on Robin's wedding to someone else — namely one of Ted's best friends, Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris) — and the fact that “Last Forever: Part Two” skates through the final storyline for the show's regular couple, Marshall Eriksen (Jason Segel) and Lily Aldrin (Alyson Hannigan), and you is an absolute episode. So which other episodes scored poorly on IMDb?

Longtime “How I Met Your Mother” fans may not be so shocked by the rest of the “worst” episodes according to IMDb; many of them are from Season 9, which is considered the worst season of the show, and are memorable only because terrible. Runner-up “Bedtime Stories” has a 5.8 rating and features pre-Hamilton Lin-Manuel Miranda, but it's only performed in a rhyme that feels like place-filler at best and absolutely awesome at worst. The third-worst episode according to IMDb, “Slapsgiving 3: Slappointment in Slapmarra,” features some seriously offensive Asian cinema caricatures performed by the show's white cast, which are legitimately embarrassing no matter when you watch it. (There's a reason it's rated a miserable 6.0.)

Another Season 9 stinker, “Mam and Dad,” is fourth with a 6.6, probably because it has a really awkward subplot in which Barney and his brother James (Wayne Brady) try to convince their mother Loretta Stinson (Frances Conroy) to come back . with one of the two dads while William Zabka (yesfrom “The Karate Kid” and finally from “Cobra Kai”) run around messing with Ted. Then we get Last Forever: Part One, where we're forced to sit and watch Robin and Barney end their marriage after we just watched an entire season focused on their wedding. Then again, not every episode of How I Met Your Mother can reach the heights of Slap Bet or How I Met Everyone Else, to name a few; they don't have to be this one bad though.
